The Bold and The Beautiful

One of America’s most loved and longest running drama series, The Bold and the Beautiful premiered on the CBS Network as a daytime soap on 23^rd March 1987. The daily soap opera has successfully completed 21 seasons and is currently running in its 22^nd season. The series was created by William J. Bell and Lee Philip Bell. It was originally created as a sister show for the soap opera The Young and the Restless. It is the American daily soap which is simultaneously telecast in English as well as Spanish for Hispanic viewers across the country. The series is famous for its international appeal and the fact that it is the only soap that runs for a short span of 30 minutes. The series is set in Los Angeles and revolves around the lives of the members of the Forrester Family and their fashion empire by the name of Forrester Creations. The main storyline focuses on the relationships between the main members of the cast.

Brooke Logan is from a working class family and lives with her mother Beth and her siblings Storm, Donna and Katie. Ridge Forrester is having an affair with Brooke but circumstances often force them to break up and then reunite. At such times Ridge finds solace in the other love affair that he has with Dr. Taylor Hayes. As a result of one of her breakups with Ridge, Brooke marries his father Eric after he divorces his wife Stephanie. This results in Brooke and Stephanie becoming arch rivals. However Eric divorces Brooke after she gives birth to their two children and reconciles with Stephanie. Similarly Brooke and Ridge go back to their on and off relationship while in between Brooke has relationships with other men and members of the Forrester family while Ridge has many reunions with Taylor. The other important character is that of Sally Spectra who had been the owner of Spectra Fashions and for many years was an arch rival of the Forrester’s. Introduced initially as bitter enemies, Sally and Stephanie become good friends later in the series with Sally even coming to work for Stephanie after closing her fashion house. In the recent years the name of Massimo Marone a shipping magnate, has been added to the list of friends of the Forrester family. It was later revealed that Massimo was Stephanie’s childhood friend whom she dated in college. He also turns out to be the biological father of Ridge as well as Dominick Nick Payne who is the son of Jacqueline Payne, a former lover of Massimo.
